Tenable Spotlights Toxic Cloud Trilogy at BlackHat MEA 2024 Conference
At the upcoming event, Tenable will be showcasing its innovative AI-powered Cloud Security solution, which is specifically designed to address the challenges posed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Cloud-First initiative as part of its Vision 2030. Vision 2030 is a strategic roadmap that aims to transform Saudi Arabia into a globally leading digital economy, with cloud technologies playing a pivotal role in revolutionizing the government, businesses, and societal functions. In line with this vision, Tenable’s Cloud Security solution is designed to ensure the security of organizations as they migrate and expand their infrastructure in the cloud, while also safeguarding the integrity of digital services and data across the country.
In addition to the demonstration of this state-of-the-art security technology, Tenable will also provide valuable insights from its 2024 Cloud Risk Report. The report highlights a growing concern for businesses globally: nearly 40% of organizations (38%) are exposed to significant risks due to workloads that possess a particularly dangerous combination of security gaps. These gaps, which Tenable refers to as the “toxic cloud trilogy,” include three key vulnerabilities: critical vulnerabilities within the workload, excessive permissions granted to users or systems, and public exposure of the workload. This combination of factors, when present in a cloud environment, significantly increases the risk of an attack and broadens the potential scope of exploitation, ultimately making the organization more vulnerable to cyber threats.
Tenable’s Vice President for the Middle East & North Africa, Maher Jadallah, emphasized the criticality of addressing these risks, noting that “a toxic cloud trilogy increases risk by making the workload’s weaknesses easier for attackers to exploit, ultimately making the scope of exploitation potentially greater.” He elaborated that, in today’s complex IT landscape, security teams are often burdened with the task of managing multiple cloud environments, identities, and various technologies, including Internet of Things (IoT), Operational Technology (OT), and IT systems. The fragmented nature of these environments makes it harder for security teams to effectively manage and mitigate risks.
Tenable’s comprehensive security solutions are aimed at helping organizations identify, expose, and close these critical security gaps. By providing businesses with the tools to address vulnerabilities in real-time, Tenable empowers organizations to improve their resilience to cyberattacks. The company will offer live demonstrations of its AI-powered exposure management solutions, which are designed to provide a detailed view of the attack paths within an organization’s infrastructure. This includes IT, cloud, and OT environments, enabling security teams to pinpoint weak spots and vulnerabilities that could be exploited by malicious actors.
Tenable’s exposure management solutions include TenableOne, Tenable Cloud Security, and Tenable OT Security, each of which is designed to address different aspects of an organization’s security needs. TenableOne provides a unified platform for risk and vulnerability management across an organization’s entire attack surface. Tenable Cloud Security focuses specifically on securing cloud environments by managing and identifying vulnerabilities unique to cloud infrastructures. Tenable OT Security helps to safeguard industrial environments by providing visibility and protection for OT systems, which are often targeted in cyberattacks.
Tenable’s AI-powered solutions are equipped with advanced capabilities to uncover and visualize potential attack paths, providing organizations with deeper insights into their security posture. The use of AI in these tools allows businesses to automate the detection and response to vulnerabilities, reducing the time and effort required to secure their systems. This enhanced visibility enables organizations to prioritize the most critical security gaps, proactively addressing risks before they can be exploited.
In addition to the demonstration of its products, Tenable will also be providing guidance on how security teams can best use its tools to manage the evolving threat landscape. With cyber threats continuously evolving and becoming more sophisticated, it is essential for businesses to adopt advanced security strategies to protect their digital assets. Tenable’s solutions aim to support organizations in achieving a higher level of security maturity, offering robust protection across diverse environments, from traditional IT infrastructures to the rapidly expanding cloud and OT domains. Through its innovative solutions, Tenable is helping organizations enhance their security posture, improve resource efficiency, and enable safer and more secure digital transformation in a rapidly changing world.
