All You Need To Know About Telegram’s New Payment and Voice Chat Features
While Payment 2.0 is not the platform's first payment system, it does introduce new features that simplify shopping for both buyers and sellers.
First, merchants can now create and send invoices via bot or inline. This invoice can then be paid via credit card in any chat, group, or channel within the app. Additionally, it accepts Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Telegram, on the other hand, does not process payments directly; instead, it uses third-party payment providers such as Stripe, YooMoney, Tranzzo, Sberbank, Payme, CLICK, LiqPay, and ECOMMPAY.
To Activate The Feature
1. Enter the command '/mybots' in the BotFather chat and create a Merchant bot that offers goods and services to Telegram users. Then navigate to Bot Settings > Payments to select a payment provider.
2. Following that, you can easily create invoices that can be forwarded and used to place orders by multiple buyers. When a user clicks on an invoice, the bot queries the user for specific shipping information.
3. Once the transaction is complete, the merchant bot can send a receipt message containing the transaction's payment information, as well as shipping and delivery information.
Telegram states that it will charge no commission to its users and that it will continue to add payment providers in the future.
There is currently a demonstration channel available for users to test the payment feature without spending a dime. Currently, the feature is available in more than 200 countries.
New Voice Chats Features
The most significant enhancement to the platform's voice chat feature is the addition of a schedule feature. It enables administrators of groups and channels to schedule a Voice Chat for a specific date and time, rather than creating one immediately.
This allows channel members to notify their friends and prepare for the broadcast. Additionally, it includes a vibrant countdown timer at the top of the chat.
To use the schedule feature on Android,
1. Simply select Start Voice Chat followed by Schedule Voice Chat;
2. On iOS, tap the Voice Chat button and then select Schedule Voice Chat.
The other enhancement is the addition of Mini profiles for voice chats. This feature enables you to gain a better understanding of the person with whom you're chatting – without leaving the voice chat window. It includes enhanced profile images and biographies.
This is particularly advantageous when attempting to locate someone in a crowded voice conference. Simply tap on the pic icon in the Voice chat window and then on the edit bio button to create your own mini profile.
New Web Apps
Apart from adding new features to its mobile app, Telegram has launched two new fully-featured Telegram web apps (Telegram web K and web Z), both of which support animated stickers, dark mode, and chat folders.
You can now access your chats instantly on any device – desktop or mobile – thanks to the new web versions. The web-based versions are self-contained. Unlike WhatsApp, this means that you do not need to keep your phone nearby or connected to the internet while logged in.
The two new web apps do not, however, completely replace the current main website, resulting in a total of three web versions.
The distinction between the three is that the K and Z versions are designed to be simpler, with fewer features than the original, but with a more modern appearance.
In summary, Telegram's new features are critical as the company prepares to compete with competitors such as clubhouse and WhatsApp.
Telegram's voice chat feature is now very similar to Clubhouse's voice chat rooms. Similarly, the payment feature represents a significant step toward surpassing Whatsapp Pay's reach.
Another significant enhancement is the new web versions, which include a long-awaited upgrade to the WhatsApp web version.
Additionally, the update announcement mentions a few enhancements to the mobile apps. You can now pinch images and videos to zoom in and out. Additionally, you can fast-forward or rewind video by double-tapping on the side of the screen on Android or by pressing and holding the +/- 15s button on iOS.
Finally, Telegram has announced that, as a result of Google's delay in verifying the Android app on the Play Store, the Android app can now be downloaded directly from the company's website.
