Farmer makes cows wear VR headsets to simulate green pasture

Anadolu Agency reports that zzet Koçak attempted to fit virtual reality headsets to two of his cows, but was unsuccessful. Cows were crammed together in a barn, so Koçak created a summer field simulation while playing classical music for them to distract them from their conditions.

Koçak placed one on each eye of the cows in order to make the human-sized headsets fit on them. It took approximately ten days before they began to produce more and higher-quality milk. One's daily milk consumption increased from 22 to 27 liters.

The concept was developed by farmers in Moscow, who carried out a similar test in the following year. The Moscow farmers collaborated with virtual reality developers to develop headsets specifically designed for cows as well as field simulations that accommodate cow vision, which differs from human vision. The results were impressive.

To conduct a trial phase of his experiment, Koçak has placed an order for enough Moscow headsets to accommodate ten cows. If that proves to be a success, he plans to use VR on all of his cows in the future.

On the one hand, this has the potential to improve the mental health of farm animals, as research has shown that their emotional state has an impact on their health and milk production. The alternative is that it could be viewed as a Band-Aid that is applied to the underlying issue of how those animals are treated on factory farms.

It brings to mind a 2012 proposal in the United Kingdom to raise unconscious chickens who are unaware that they are being raised in densely packed warehouses and who are unaware that they are being raised in densely packed warehouses. Additionally, one could draw parallels between cow VR simulations and the plot of the Matrix films, in which humans are trapped in a simulated world so that machines can harvest their body heat for use in artificial intelligence devices.
