How To Remove Others From Your Netflix Account

Netflix.

Netflix is an easy service to recommend to others. Perhaps your ex-partner still has your password, or you signed into Netflix on a TV in an Airbnb and now everyone who stays there is streaming on your account, among other possibilities. Here's how to keep unauthorized users from gaining access to your Netflix account:

Only a small number of people are able to stream at the same time

Additionally, each Netflix account has a limit on the number of concurrent streams that can be watched (two for a standard HD plan or four for a premium 4K UHD plan.) By removing other users from your account, you can prevent other users from taking up those streaming slots when you're ready to watch a show.

Sometimes, account sharing can result in Netflix temporarily suspending or terminating your account. This is because Netflix dislikes seeing people sharing accounts from all over the world, and account sharing is officially intended for households that live together. In contrast, Netflix will not suspend your account via text message—this is a phishing attempt.

Option 1: Deactivate the devices associated with your Netflix account

The removal of all of these devices from your account can be accomplished quickly if you follow the steps outlined below. First, go to the account settings page on Netflix's website by clicking on your profile icon in the top-right corner of the web page.

"Sign out of all devices" is located to the right of the Settings menu.

To have Netflix automatically sign out all devices associated with your Netflix account, simply click the "Sign Out" button on the Netflix home screen. According to the website, this process could take up to eight hours.

This will forcefully log out all devices whose streaming activity is visible on the Recent device streaming activity page, as well as any other devices that are currently logged in. This means that any television in an Airbnb that was previously linked to your Netflix account will no longer be linked to your Netflix account after you check out. If you haven't actually shared your password with anyone else, you're finished with it.

How to find out who has been accessing your Netflix account

The most recent devices and locations that have accessed your account can be found on Netflix's Recent device streaming activity page, if you're curious about which devices will be signed out of your account.

From the Netflix website, go to the Account settings page and then click "Recent device streaming activity," which is located directly above the option to "Sign out of all devices."

You'll see a list of the devices, locations, and IP addresses that have recently accessed your account, as well as the dates on which they were last used, when you click on this link.

Option 2: Change your password to Boot Everyone

However, if someone has your Netflix password, they will be able to sign in even after you have logged out of all of the devices that were previously signed in. There is only one solution to this problem: you must change your Netflix login credentials.

Click on "Change Password" to the right of Membership & Billing in Netflix's profile menu > Account to complete the process.

In this field, you should enter both your current and new passwords.

If you want to log out of all currently logged-in devices, select "Require all devices to sign in again with new password" from the drop-down menu.

Following that, you'll need to re-sign in to Netflix on all of your devices, assuming you checked the appropriate box earlier. Anyone else who is currently logged into your Netflix account, on the other hand, will be required to sign in as a new user. And they will be unable to do so unless you give them access to your account password.

The final point to mention is that locking someone out of your Netflix account is similar to locking someone out of your Wi-Fi network—if they know your password, the only way to keep them out is to change it and lock them out.
