The Benefits Of Applying For Microfabrication Course

Microfabrication.

Microfabrication Study

Microfabrication is the process of fabricating miniature structures of micrometer scales. Historically, the earliest microfabrication processes were used for integrated circuit fabrication, also known as "semiconductor manufacturing" or "semiconductor device fabrication".

In the last two decades microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), microsystems (European usage), micromachines (Japanese terminology) and their subfields, microfluidics/lab-on-a-chip, optical MEMS.

Microfabrication is actually a collection of technologies that are utilized in making microdevices. Some of them have very old origins, not connected to manufacturing, like lithography or etching. Polishing was borrowed from optics manufacturing, and many of the vacuum techniques come from 19th-century physics research.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and maintaining warehouse equipment and machinery setting up manufacturing equipment
  • Daily operational management of the manufacturing of thin-film-based medical devices, using micro-and nanofabrication in cleanrooms.
  • Support the strategic allocation of manufacturing capacity and balance between outsourcing locations.
  • Daily operational management of graphene production. Graphene is a material that is a one-atom-thick graphite sheet, and it is created from elemental carbon.
  • Support the strategic allocation of manufacturing capacity and balance between outsourcing locations.

The Benefits of Applying for Microfabrication Course

  • Learn more about Subtractive Microfabrication: Subtractive microfabrication techniques employ the removal or etching of a portion of the substrate to fabricate microstructures/patterns.
  • Laser micro-fabrication (LMF) techniques have attracted wide interest in the last two decades because of their high precision, mask-less and rapid processing speed, and no tool wear. LMF techniques can take three typical forms: subtractive methods, including laser ablation, etching, and precision cutting;
  • Microfabrication techniques have been used for the creation of Si-based MEAs for neural interfacing, including peripheral nerve electrodes and intracortical electrodes as these techniques enable batch processing, design flexibility, and small, dense features that cannot easily be achieved by hand fabrication.
