What are Epic Books?

Epic is a digital library and e-readers for books and videos of children more of which are added weekly. This is designed specifically for teachers who can assign books to individual students or class groups. With the integration for the likes of Google Classroom, this platform is straightforward to use. Epic Books also allows teachers and parents to track the children with their books reading. Many popular authors and books are available all digital format. With a built-in dictionary to help the students learn as they read. Epic is a digital library but it is also an online reader for assessing all that content. New books and videos are added weekly with more than 40,000 currently available.

Student Features in Epic Books

Let's begin with the setup. They can directly customize their reading profile by indicating their age and interests. This individualizes their main page with appropriate text to match. Once the setup is comprehensive, your students can get reading. As they explore the app, they earn achievements that allow them to unlock customizations to their profile.

My students ask me if this is a highlight of the app for them. This is especially helpful when they are reading or listening to longer texts that they would like to revisit during a future Epic session, or when they have a title.

Teacher Features

Within the teacher section, I can see full student data for each child in my classroom. There is a master overview page that contains our class totals and a summary of how many books and hours each student has read. There is a menu under each student's name that will open up more detailed information about their reading habits including which books they have opened, and how long they spent on each.

How many pages did the student flip, and whether or not they completed the Secret Class book? I also can create book gatherings with any of the texts on the site and assign them to any or all of my students. Using any book, I can also create a multiple-choice quiz to share or assign to students. There are many collections and games already available from other educators' accounts.
