Asante, a Nigerian-led fintech Selected for the Mastercard Start Path Program's six-month duration

Asante Financial Services, a Mauritius-based Fintech startup led by Nigerians, has been selected to join Mastercard's Start Path program.

Asante provides high-impact digital financial services contributing to Africa's growth by providing sustainable lending to underserved small businesses and individuals.

The Mastercard Start Path Program connects a diverse network of innovators and startups with experts and infrastructure to help them accelerate their solutions.

Asante is one of six scaling startups selected for the award-winning program this year. Among the startups are those developing blockchain-based payment systems to humanize finance. Additionally, it includes startups developing sustainable lending platforms to close the credit gap for small businesses in emerging markets.

Cledara from the United Kingdom; Jifiti, SpenDebt's, and Tippy from the United States of America; and Moeda Seeds from Uruguay are among the other startups in the Program.

Asante is making sustainable loans available to MSMEs since 2016

Asante Financial Service was founded in Mauritius in 2016 and is a sustainable lender focused on Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) and consumers in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Since its inception and now operates in Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania, the company has grown exponentially with plans to expand into Nigeria and Uganda.

According to the company, Asante aspires to be Africa's leading digital financial services provider by promoting economic independence, leveraging the market's best talent, and leveraging technology to deliver world-class lending services to valued customers.

Chidi Okpala, a Nigerian, is the company's CEO. With over 26 years of experience in 25 African countries, he is one of Africa's most respected retail financial services experts.

The startup was a finalist in last year's DIFC Fintech Hive Accelerator program.

By joining the Mastercard Start Path Program, the company will receive a six-month training period working closely with Mastercard. Additionally, it will gain access to Mastercard's technology, expertise, and resources, which will enable it to scale its business rapidly.

Additionally, members receive direct access to the company's channels, customers, and product teams, as well as immersive virtual events and programming aimed at identifying co-innovation opportunities.
