Clubhouse.io Is Changing Its Name To Shortcut

Clubhouse.io is changing its name to Shortcut

Project Management software, Clubhouse on Thursday, July 29, 2021 announced via a blog post that it would be changing its name to Shortcut.

According to Kurt Schrader, the company's CEO and co-founder, the name change will not take effect until the second week of September at the very earliest.

We would like to remind everyone that our official name change will not take effect until the second week of September. Nothing is going to change today. And even if we do decide to change our name, the way our product operates will remain unchanged. Instead of clubhouse.io, we will simply be located at the domain shortcut.com, and all of your existing links will simply redirect to the new site.”

This is due to the rapid rise in popularity of the live-audio platform of the same name, which has prompted the company to rename itself.

Clubhouse, founded in 2016 by Schrader and his co-founder, Andrew Childs, is a project management software designed for teams, with over 20,000 users, according to the company.

The criteria for choosing a name for Clubhouse were that it should be short and memorable, imply collaboration, and capture the company's belief that software development is more chaotic than order.

More on the Live-audio Platform

Even in light of the recent changes made to Clubhouse, the live-audio platform, the reason for this change is understandable, especially in light of recent updates made to the platform.

The live-audio platform announced last week, on July 22, 2021, that it was no longer in beta testing and that users were no longer required to receive invitations to use the app.

The announcement came after 16 months of invite-only exclusivity and 14 months of iOS-only usage restrictions. Clubhouse has finally announced that its Android application will be available in May 2021.

The live-audio platform is also looking into monetization options such as subscriptions, ticketing, and a tipping system, which is similar to the feature found on Twitter Blue. Although there is no clear timetable for the launch at this time, they have already begun testing in the United States.

Clubhouse, the project management software company, will launch an extensive advertising campaign in the coming months to introduce this name to new and existing users.

According to the company, this is more than a rebranding because it is in line with its goal of serving as the single source of truth, planning, and conversation about ongoing projects.

More announcements are expected in the coming months, according to the company.
