Confidence Staveley is the first Nigerian woman to be named a finalist for the Cybersecurity Woman of the Year Award

Confidence Staveley, affectionately known as the 'Relatable Cybersecurity Queen,' has been named a finalist for the prestigious Cybersecurity Woman of the Year Award 2021.

Confidence is the first Nigerian and the first African to be a finalist in her category, the Cybersecurity People's Choice.

The Cybersecurity Woman of the Year Award is an annual ceremony honoring female cybersecurity leaders who are making a difference in the world. The Cybersecurity Woman of the Year 2021 Awards GALA, hosted by inteligenca, will reveal the winners of each category on August 3rd, 2021 in Las Vegas.

This international industry honor follows her outstanding contributions through her organization, Cybersafe Foundation.

The Cybersafe Foundation is a non-governmental organization dedicated to facilitating pockets of human behavioral and capacity change in order to ensure a safer internet for everyone living in Africa who has digital access.

Confidence recently launched CyberGirls, a free one-year fellowship that equips girls with globally sought-after cybersecurity skills, positioning them to begin a career in cybersecurity.

She is currently training over 100 girls in Calabar, Enugu, Lokoja, Yola, Kaduna, and Ibadan as part of the CyberGirls fellowship. She employs innovative methods, such as her social media accounts, to teach about cybersafety in a very relatable manner, at times through the use of insightful TikTok-style videos.

In addition, confidence is assisting in the fight against cyber-fraud via the Cybersafe Foundation's NoGoFallMaga initiative. Cybersafe Foundation, led by her, has recently launched cybersecurity awareness campaigns that have reached over 10 million people in Nigeria. Additionally, the foundation, in collaboration with the UK Government, organized cybersecurity training for over 4,426 SMEs.

These and numerous other contributions to Nigeria's fight against cybercrime have earned her recognition throughout Africa, including recognition as one of the Top 50 Women in Cybersecurity Africa 2020.

Iretioluwa Akerele, a member of the advisory board at Cybersafe Foundation, urged Nigerians to support her in her bid to finally win the medals.

“Confidence requires your vote to win her category and bring this award home from Las Vegas,” she stated.
