Samsung Unveils AI-Optimized Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and S10+

business .

Samsung has once again expanded its tablet lineup, this time placing artificial intelligence (AI) at the forefront with the launch of the Galaxy Tab S10 series. The new tablets, including the 14.6-inch Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and the 12.4-inch Galaxy Tab S10+, are designed to offer AI-powered enhancements right out of the box. With features like anti-reflective Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays, quad speakers equipped with AI Dialogue Boost, and an IP68 durability rating, these tablets are positioned as premium devices in the Android market. Both models will be available for purchase starting next month.

The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra runs on Android 14 and boasts a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2960 x 1848 resolution. It's powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor and offers either 12GB or 16GB of RAM, which ensures smooth operation of the device's AI tools. Some of the standout features include Circle to Search, Handwriting Assist Note Assist, and Sketch to Image—all of which can be used with the included S Pen. The stylus also provides access to Air Command with AI allowing users to access features without navigating through menus.

Another highlight is the tablet's ability to function as a "home AI hub" for SmartThings devices, offering 3D Map View and Insight Messages to facilitate ongoing monitoring. The camera setup includes 13MP and 8MP ultra-wide lenses on the rear, and 12MP and 12MP ultra-wide lenses on the front. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, 5G, and Bluetooth 5.3, and the tablet is powered by an impressive 11,200 mAh battery. Additionally, it offers security through Samsung Knox and the ability to act as a second screen with just one click.

The tablet will be available in Moonstone Gray and Platinum Silver, starting at $1,200 for the 256GB model. Other storage options include 512GB and 1TB, and there’s a MicroSD slot for expandable storage up to 1.5TB. Pre-orders are available starting today.

The Galaxy Tab S10+ shares many of the same features as the Ultra, but with a few key differences. The 12.4-inch display offers a slightly lower resolution of 2800 x 1752, though it maintains the 120Hz refresh rate. The front-facing camera is a single 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and the battery is slightly smaller at 10,090 mAh. Like the Ultra, the Tab S10+ comes in Moonstone Gray and Platinum Silver, with a starting price of $999 for the 256GB model. A 512GB option is also available, with support for MicroSD cards up to 1.5TB.

Samsung's Galaxy Tab S10 series marks the company's effort to integrate AI across its device ecosystem. The tablets inherit AI features from Samsung’s flagship phones, such as Circle to Search and Sketch to Image, which have been well-received for their utility. The S Pen brings additional functionality with Handwriting Assist and Note Assist, both of which streamline note-taking and content creation processes.

While the AI features have shown promise, it remains to be seen how well they will perform in real-world use cases. Features like Sketch to Image have impressed by transforming rudimentary drawings into realistic images, while Circle to Search simplifies the process of searching for items by drawing around them. However, like many generative AI tools, their usefulness may vary depending on the task.

One of the first impressions of the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is its lightweight, thin design, despite its large 14.6-inch screen. The AMOLED panels are vibrant, offering an excellent display for media consumption, and the anti-reflective finish should make the screen easier to view in various lighting conditions. Both the S10 Ultra and S10+ come with an IP68 rating, ensuring durability, even in tough conditions.

Though the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor in the Galaxy Tab S10 series marks a shift from the Qualcomm Snapdragon chips used in previous models, questions remain about the chip’s ability to handle multitasking and AI processes efficiently. Nevertheless, Samsung’s AMOLED panels remain among the best in the industry, providing an exceptional visual experience.

With pre-orders starting today and a retail release set for October 3, the Galaxy Tab S10 series has the potential to maintain its status as the best premium Android tablet on the market. Samsung’s push to integrate AI across its devices, coupled with the Galaxy AI suite of tools, offers a cohesive experience across its hardware lineup.

Samsung’s latest addition to its tablet lineup solidifies its position in the Android ecosystem, with AI enhancements and high-end features that cater to users looking for a premium tablet experience. Although the AI features show promise, it will take more hands-on time to determine if they truly enhance the user experience in a meaningful way. For now, the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and S10+ look poised to maintain their reputation as top-tier Android tablets, especially for users invested in Samsung's broader ecosystem of devices.
