The Australian Federal Police (AFP) conducted a comprehensive operation resulting in the arrest of five individuals as part of a broader international effort targeting a cyber-criminal syndicate engaged in large-scale phishing activities. Central to this operation was LabHost, a website implicated in the illicit acquisition of personal data from approximately 94,000 individuals in Australia, alongside numerous others globally. Notably, Australians ranked among the top three user demographics accessing LabHost’s services.

Among those apprehended were two men—one hailing from Melbourne and the other from Adelaide—who were charged with cybercrime-related offenses following the AFP’s intensive investigation, dubbed Operation Nebulae. Concurrently, three individuals from Melbourne were arrested by Victoria Police on charges related to drug offenses.The multi-faceted investigation, conducted in collaboration with Europol, represents a concerted global effort to combat cybercrime and safeguard digital ecosystems against malicious actors.
