How To Create A Dual-Axis Charts In Microsoft Excel

A dual axis chart, also known as a combo chart, is a type of graph that is used to display two different types of data on the same graph. You could, for example, display a column chart representing sales data alongside a line chart representing commission amounts on the same page. Let's take a look at how you create a dual-axis charts in MS Excel.

1. Choose the information that will be included in the chart.

2. Click the Insert tab.

3. Select the Combo button.

4. Select the option to create a custom combo chart.

The default combo chart does not have a secondary axis for labeling the values of the second data set, which is an important feature. When this option is enabled, the data will be more readable for chart viewers.

5. Choose the data you want to display on the secondary axis by checking the Secondary Axis checkbox.

6. Press the OK button to confirm your action.

Add Secondary Axis Titles

By default, the primary and secondary axis values on the chart are not labeled at all. The addition of labels helps to make the information presented more understandable.

1.Select the dual axis chart.

2. Click the Chart Elements button.

3. Select Axis Titles check box.

4.In each axis text box, type a name for the axis.
