How to include Animation in PowerPoint presentations on a PC

The instructions that follow are simple and straightforward for using PowerPoint slide animation. This article applies to PowerPoint 2016, 2013, 2010, and PowerPoint for Microsoft 365, among other versions of PowerPoint.

1. Start PowerPoint and navigate to the slide on which you want to apply animations. Once there, click OK.

2. Select the item that you wish to animate from the list.

3. On the Animations tab, in the Animations group, select the More arrow in the Animations box on the Animations tab.

You can also include animations for the Entrance, Emphasis, and Exit, for example:

  • When an Entrance is used, the item on the slide is animated as it appears.
  • An Emphasis animates a previously added item to the slide that has already been animated.
  • When an Exit item is selected, it animates as it exits the slide.

4. Select the animation that you wish to use from the drop-down menu. When you click on it, the animation on your slide will begin immediately.

5. The number "1" will appear next to the animated object, indicating that this is the first animation that will take place when you select an object within the slide while delivering your presentation. The items will be sequentially numbered in the order in which they were created if you animate multiple items at the same time.

6. To animate multiple items within an object with the same animation, select the object first, and then the animation in the Animations panel.

You can specify whether an animation should occur for all items at once or for each item individually by selecting Effect Options on the Animations tab, in the Animations group, on the Animations tab. Additionally, you have the ability to customize the manner in which the animation occurs; for example, you can choose whether an item "floats in" from the top or bottom of the slide.

7. Choose Animation Pane from the Advanced Animation group on the Animations tab of the Advanced Animation group to fine-tune the way animations play out during your presentation. A new pane will appear in the right-hand column of the screen.

  • The animations can be rearranged by selecting them from the list and moving them up or down using the arrows located at the top right corner of the pane.
  • If you want to change how long an animation lasts, choose one from the list and then click the down arrow to reveal additional options.
  • To see all of the animations at once, select Play All from the Play menu.

8. If you want to turn off an animation, first select the animated item and then click the Animations tab, then select the None button from the Animations group.

How to Use a Mac to Insert Animation into a PowerPoint Presentation

The following instructions are for PowerPoint 2019 for Mac, PowerPoint 2016 for Mac, PowerPoint 2011 for Mac, and PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 for Mac, as well as PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 for Mac.

1.To begin, open PowerPoint and navigate to the slide on which you wish to apply the animation.

2. Select the item that you wish to animate from the list.

3. The Animations tab allows you to customize how an item appears on the slide, is highlighted, or exits the slide when it is selected. Select the one that you would like to use.

It's important to note that the effects in PowerPoint 2011 for Mac are labeled "entrance," "emphasis," and "exit," respectively.

4. When you click anywhere on the slide during your presentation, you'll see the number "1" appear next to the object you've animated, indicating that this will be the first time the object is animated in your presentation. The items will be sequentially numbered in the order in which they were created if you animate multiple items at the same time.

5. To adjust the way animations play during your presentation, open the Animations pane by clicking on the number of the animation you want to change.

Take note that these options are accessible in PowerPoint 2011 for Mac through the Animation tab, where they are listed under Animation Options.

  • The animations can be rearranged by selecting them from the list and moving them up or down using the arrows located at the top right corner of the pane.
  • You can change the behavior of the animation by modifying the options in the Effect Options dialog box.
  • Please keep in mind that if the Effect Options button is not displayed, it is possible that the effect does not have any options.
  • Use the Timing dialog box to specify how long you want your animation to run for.
  • To see your changes take effect, select ‘Play From’ from the drop-down menu.

6. You have now completed your task.
