The Professional or Business account options are major, an ideal account for those who have a business and plan to run ads, post, promote posts, sell their products, and gather analytics.

Below, we provide steps to switch between them.

Do I Need a Personal, Creator, or a Business Account?

Most people just want to have a Personal account. This is the only account type that you can change to private so that you are able to control who sees your post and follows you. However, if you are making use of the Instagram professionally, then what will be very useful to you is a Creator or Business account.

You need to choose a Creator account if you are an influencer person, a YouTuber, or you are an individual maker. You'll need to go with a Business account if you are setting up an account for your actual business, like setting a restaurant or a beauty salon. There will be a very little difference between these two accounts, with only an exception that Creator accounts can hide the details of their contact and business types to make it look more like a regular Personal account.

Professional Account Requirements

The requirements for Instagram’s Professional accounts are not secured it is pretty loose: Anybody can sign up for one and just list themselves as a business. However, if you want to run any ads or create posts with a direct links to your products, the requirement that is needed is to have a Facebook Page.

Also, there is a stipulated amount of account that you can manage at once. You can only manage five Instagram accounts at once, so if you set up Professional accounts that are too many, you’ll have to log out of some of the accounts.

How You Can Switch Accounts

1. If you want to change your account type, just open Instagram and go straight to your Profile page. Click the three little lines that is at the top-right corner to access the menu.

2. From the instagram menu navigate your to the settings. Go to Settings > Account.

3. From the settings option simply Click “Switch to Professional Account” and follow the setup process.

4. Now, after switching to professional account, you’ll have the opportunity to choose your business category, you can then connect a Facebook Page (if you haven’t done so already), add your location and your contact details, and select whether you want a Business or Creator account.

5. If at any point in the future you want to switch your account type again, just go to Settings > Account and then click “Switch account type.” Then choose either “Switch to Business Account“ or "Switch to Personal Account.”

Note: The Instagram platfrom does not have a strong security measure, it allows easy switching from the Creator to Personal or to Business.
