Life In The Future: Tech That Will Change The Way We Live

Life in the future: Tech that will change the way we live

Technology is capable of many things, one of which is changing the world.

We are fortunate to live in an era when science and technology can assist us, make our lives easier, and cause us to rethink the ways we go about our daily lives.

The technology to which we are already exposed and accustomed has paved the way for further innovation, and this list of current and future technologies has the potential to significantly alter our lives.

Here is our list of technologies that will "likely" alter the course of our lives for the next decade and beyond:

Space Tourism

We can fly to almost any country on the planet without difficulty, but what if we could all see the earth from space one day?

Virgin Galactic, SpaceX, and even Amazon's Blue Origin are all working to make it a reality and provide us with a (very expensive) seat aboard a spaceship that will take us into orbit. Passengers aboard Amazon's New Shepard space shuttle will be lifted 100 kilometers above sea level and then parachuted to the ground.

Robots in space and in the workplace

NASA has already launched a variety of robots into space. This makes sense as technology advances. Robots do not require oxygen to breathe or food to eat, and they can be crammed with sensors to transmit data to Earth.

The same is true at work. Robots can take on the more difficult, dangerous, and mundane tasks, saving humanity time and effort. Additionally, they can theoretically operate more quickly, efficiently, and with fewer errors.

Electric/self-driving cars

Electric vehicles are not new; they have been on our roads for some time and are only improving.

Car batteries are becoming more durable, charging station infrastructure is expanding, and self-driving technology is receiving significant investment, which means it will arrive sooner than you think.

Tesla already has a sophisticated Autopilot mode that can take over some driving controls, but automakers hope to eventually allow us to drive completely hands-free.

Flying cars

When there is no more space on the roads, it is not implausible to believe we will take to the skies. There are already a number of fascinating flying car concepts demonstrating that this future is a possibility.

Perhaps if flying cars do not become a reality, we will all have other modes of personal transport - jetpacks, for example, have been a popular pursuit of inventors and thrill seekers for decades.

Robot butlers

Chores is tedious and, unfortunately, necessary. However, what if robots could assist in alleviating your misery? With robot vacuum cleaners and smart home appliances, we've already seen the beginnings. Larger, more useful robots are also emerging.

We could easily be living in a future populated by useful robots serving as butlers, chefs, and general dogsbodies.

Hyper-fast trains

Another company backed by Elon Musk, Hyperloop is a high-speed underground transportation system currently being built and tested in the United States. The initial route will connect Los Angeles and San Francisco. Another route is planned to connect New York and Washington D.C. in 29 minutes, rather than the current 2 hours 56 minutes.

Hyper-fast trains that can travel underground and underwater have the potential to revolutionize not only public transportation, but also international travel. Consider being able to travel between countries in the same amount of time it currently takes to travel between towns.

Working in virtual reality

AR, or Augmented Reality, has incredible potential. It's been around for a while, in the form of various apps that can overlay information around you. It's distinct from virtual reality in that it overlays information rather than immersing you in a virtual environment.

Businesses are experimenting with augmented and virtual reality devices for use in the workplace. They can be used for a variety of purposes, including visual representations of blueprints, virtual scale models of products under development, and even simple tasks such as virtual team meetings.

Gesture based computing

While Minority Report popularized the concept, gesture-based computing has existed for some time. Additionally, it is already incorporated into a variety of different technologies and is almost second nature to the majority.

How many gestures do we currently use on our smartphones, tablets, and other smart devices on a daily basis? It's reasonable to envision a future in which we no longer rely on the mouse and keyboard to manipulate data in a virtual space, but rather on voice and action.

Wearable screens

While we may be daydreaming about foldable phones and screens at the moment, the future may very well be screenless.

There are numerous projector-like devices with touch capabilities that can beam usable screens onto your skin, clothing, or other surfaces. The future of smartphone technology may not even require a pocket-sized device but rather something you wear or have implanted.
