5 Things to Stop Doing If You Want to Be Happy

In actuality, emotions only exist when you refuse to let go. You didn't think twenty-three negative ideas, therefore your day wasn't destroyed when you let them go. You're still joyful. You'll be absolutely certain that you need to keep thinking about it and not let it go, especially with negative ideas. 

Subconsciously, you're trying to find a way to feel better. And instead of taking accountability for your own emotions, you place the blame elsewhere or claim bad luck. You had no other options. Your entire life, it's been conditioned into you. You can now choose. Now you have relief! You may now let it go.

Avoid the need to cling to positive notions. Consider trying to cling to the concept, "Vacation is only three weeks away." That sparks new ideas like, "That's going to be so soothing!" "Just sun and the beach!" "I am impatient." You're having a terrific time daydreaming. Then, a CRASH! 

You return to the stress city after it is over. You feel let down and unhappy in the end. You might have liked thinking, "Vacation is just three weeks away!" if you had let it go.

 

1.  Holding resentments, anger, rage, or blaming others

Keeping resentments is like clinging to a leech. Until you choose to let it go, it will suck you dry, stealing your happiness and lifeblood. You first feel justified in your rage and deserving of it. You think that having the truth is more significant than everything else.

You attribute responsibility for your bad luck to other people and think that they are to blame for your suffering. Being upset and resentful just produces misery, not joy. When we place blame on others, we become the victim. Ever witness a "Happy Victim"? No! Victims are unhappy (unless they've just won a case), Tolerance is the key to happiness. 

Forgive those who violated your rights. Forgive those who offended you. Forgive those who have harmed you. Forgive yourself for the circumstances that didn't go as you had hoped. Sorry about the economy. Give Mother Nature a break. Please pardon your mother, father, sister, and brother. Pardon Yourself. You merit it, and you merit happiness!

 

2. Complaining to yourself

Blaming others and feeling sorry for oneself go hand in hand. You're blaming yourself instead of — or in addition to — blaming others! It's like throwing yourself a "sad party"! Even if you manage to invite people to your party, nobody will be happy. 

Now, whether your circumstance is due to your actions or not, there is nothing wrong with feeling dissatisfied with it. And talking to someone about how you're feeling is typically helpful and freshening. However, being in the "poor, poor me" mindset will not help you escape it. You're playing the victim once more, and victims have it rough or you can use customer satisfaction surveys to measure customer satisfaction.

So, how do you get over your self-pity? It is time to concentrate on the positive vive of your life! Keep your attention on what is effective, positive, and admirable. Because our thoughts become exponentially larger when we concentrate. We feel better the more we concentrate on the positive. 

Decide what in your life you can alter, and then start changing it right away! Own up to your part in your life. Waiting till tomorrow, dwelling on the past, and worrying about the future are all bad ideas. Select Happiness Right Now!

 

3. Waiting — For Happiness to come from Someone, Something, or Anything

The act of waiting to experience happiness is another thing we do that prevents joy. What percentage of you say, "I'll be delighted when "? We're waiting for the ideal relationship, job or profession, raise or promotion, new home or vehicle, or even the ideal hairdo! 

However, none of these things are to blame for our happiness, therefore there is nothing wrong with desiring them. Although they may make us feel proud of ourselves, accomplished, and happy, soon we will return to seeking something more or something else.

And that's okay since we're always evolving and expanding. We end ourselves in "The Waiting Place," as Dr. Seuss called it in "Oh, the Places You'll Go," when we link those items to our happiness. But contented individuals don't wait to be content. 

They make the decision to always be happy, no matter what. Otherwise, you are denying yourself all of life's basic joys. Stop waiting now. Happiness is an attitude, not a thing or a location.

 

4. Exaggerating unfavorable incidents or ideas

Blowing things out of proportion could work well in a dramatic movie, but it has a negative impact on our pleasure. We all need a little "tea and sympathy" now and then, but exaggerating bad things simply makes us feel worse and weakens our defenses.

Our bodies weren't built to always be on "Red Alert." Next time you catch yourself exaggerating a situation, stop and ask yourself: "Is this really that bad? Does it need this much of my attention? Is it really that essential in the long run? Is there a solution?

My favorite question is, "What can I learn from this?" or "What would happen if I simply let it go?" Sometimes it's as easy as changing the way we frame things and adding new words to our lexicon! 

Why not reframe bad events such that they are seen as "annoyances" rather than "awful" things. It's much simpler to ignore something when you consider it irritating and keeps you happy. Find the bright side of the problem or create lemonade if you want to be happier. Take a straw, and sip away like a king or queen! Your happiness is at stake!

 

5. Thinking in all or nothing

Thinking in absolutes is the same as believing that everything is "Black or White." Life is filled with various shades of gray; it is not black and white (and every other color in the rainbow).

All or nothing thinking robs us of our pleasure since we may have to wait a very long time if we believe we must have everything precisely as we want or expect to be content. Just ask a toddler's parent! 

The main cause of such temper outbursts is not obtaining precisely what you want when you want it. We should know by now that life rarely goes according to our plans as grownups.

We often receive part or most of what we want, but occasionally, especially when a highly desired item is on sale and in stock, we do get everything we want! But in order to actually be joyful all the time, we must separate ourselves from a certain result. Happiness is a state of mind.

 

Final thought

The end of that. You don't feel dissatisfied or sad when it stops. The Untrue You have been trained to look for sensory stimulation, like loving a pet. Without attempting, you were unaware that you were happy. It will take more than just my words to persuade you of this. You'll realize it soon enough.

What percentage of you say, "I'll be delighted when "? We're waiting for the ideal relationship, job or profession, raise or promotion, new home or vehicle, or even the ideal hairdo!
