How to Delete Files from Google Drive

You can delete files and folders from both the Google Drive website and the Google Drive mobile app. Whatever the file type (document, video, spreadsheet, image, or slideshow), it is all accessible through Google Drive and can be accessed at any time.

Use Your Computer to Delete Google Drive Documents and Photos

1. Navigate to the Google Drive website and log in if required.

2. Locate the folder or file that you wish to delete and double-click it. Holding down the Ctrl or Command key while making your selection will allow you to select multiple items at the same time.

3. Select the trash icon in the top-right corner of the screen. The files will be removed from the Trash folder as soon as they are found.

How to Delete Google Drive Files Using Your Mobile Device

If you're working from your smartphone, you can still delete files from Google Drive. Within seconds, the files will be deleted, and you will have gained additional storage space as a result.

1. Locate the file or folder that you wish to delete and double-click it. You have two options: either search for it or manually browse through the Files tab.

2. From the three-dot menu that appears next to it, select Remove.

You can delete multiple items at once by tapping and holding the first one, then tapping on the remaining items until they are all gone. If you choose to go this route, select the trash icon at the top of the screen.

3. Confirm your selection by selecting Move to trash from the drop-down menu.
