business .

The Director General of the Information and Communication Technologies Commission (ICTC), Dr. Nkundwe Mwasaga, has reaffirmed the Tanzanian government's commitment to advancing digital education across all school levels. This initiative is in collaboration with various stakeholders and aims to equip Tanzanians with essential modern technology skills.

During the recent launch of a new computer laboratory at Manushi Secondary School in Moshi Rural, Kilimanjaro region, Dr. Mwasaga emphasized the critical importance of digital literacy in today's rapidly evolving world. He highlighted that technology is integral to every aspect of life, including economic development. "We must ensure that we provide digital education from primary schools to higher learning institutions," he stated. "The technology sector is growing rapidly, and Tanzania must not lag behind."

Dr. Mwasaga outlined the government's significant investments in nurturing students' technological talents through institutions like the ICTC, in partnership with various stakeholders. This initiative is part of a broader effort to produce innovative experts capable of addressing the challenges and demands of a digital world. The launch of the computer lab at Manushi Secondary School also coincided with the school’s 15th graduation ceremony, marking a significant milestone for both the institution and its students.

He expressed confidence that the new facilities would greatly contribute to developing students' technological skills, ultimately benefiting the surrounding community. “Investing in digital education is not just about teaching technology; it’s about empowering our youth to thrive in a digital economy,” Dr. Mwasaga added.

In his address, Dr. Mwasaga also praised QSoft Technology Company for its invaluable support of the digital education project in schools. He noted that initiatives like the one at Manushi Secondary School lay a strong foundation for nurturing digital competence in young Tanzanians, preparing them to adapt to modern technology and its associated challenges.

QSoft's Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Amali Bahanza, discussed the company's commitment to enhancing digital literacy in Tanzania. He noted that QSoft had introduced its digital education program five years ago, focusing on improving digital literacy in primary and secondary schools, especially in rural areas. "The aim is to prioritize digital education, enabling students to utilize digital solutions to tackle economic and other challenges," he explained.

As part of this initiative, QSoft donated 22 computers valued at over 50 million Tanzanian shillings to Manushi Secondary School. The school’s headteacher, Mr. Khamis Mbawa, expressed his gratitude towards QSoft for this initiative, stating that it would significantly enhance the students' technological skills and prepare them for future challenges.

The launch of the computer laboratory at Manushi Secondary School marks a pivotal advancement in digital education within Tanzania. This initiative underscores the government's dedication to embedding technology into the educational framework, with the aim of equipping students with essential skills that are vital for success in a rapidly evolving digital economy.

By fostering collaborations with organizations such as QSoft, the government is not only enhancing the learning environment but also establishing a robust foundation for the upcoming generation of Tanzanian innovators. These efforts will empower students to meet future challenges head-on, ultimately contributing to the nation's overall economic growth and technological advancement. As these young minds gain access to modern tools and resources, they will be better positioned to drive innovation and progress in various sectors, paving the way for a more prosperous future for Tanzania.
