How To Use Microsoft OneNote To Crop a Picture
How To Use Microsoft OneNote To Crop a Picture
Many of Microsoft’s applications gives you the opportunity to crop pictures directly. You can also do this with the OneNote on the web, but for the Windows or Mac or versions, you need to use a workaround.
Cropping a Picture in The Microsoft OneNote for the Web
1. To crop a picture in Microsoft OneNote for the web, log in to the OneNote website from your browser of choice. On the Notebook selection screen, select the Notebook that contains the photo that you want to crop (or you can simply insert one with Insert > Picture).
2. Example: select "Notebook" in notebook selection screen
3. Next, select the picture that you want to crop by clicking it. You'll notice a perforated border will appear around the image.

Crop an Image in the Microsoft OneNote for a Desktop
Unfortunately, the version of Microsoft OneNote for desktop doesn’t have the ability to crop pictures. You will notice that when you insert and select an image, the “Picture” tab does not appear—and this is the tab that contains what is needed to edit your picture cos it displays all of the image editing tools.
Fortunately, both the Windows 10 and Mac come with a built-in tool that allows you to capture a portion of your screen—and this can used to crop your image.
Snipping Tool App in search results on Windows 10
If you’re making use of the Windows 10, you can quickly launch the Snipping Tool by using the "Windows Key+Shift+s" keyboard shortcut. Alternatively, type “Snipping Tool” in the search bar of Windows and choose the Snipping Tool app from the search results you'll see.
Snipping Tool App in search results in Mac
On Mac, you can use the "Command+Shift+4" keyboard shortcut or press "Command+Space" to open Finder. Type “Screenshot” in the search bar, then select “Screenshot” in the options listed.
You can then use these tools to crop the image by clicking and dragging with your cursor over the area of the image that you want to keep. Then you can insert the image in the OneNote (Insert > Picture).
While it is convenient to use Windows 10 and Mac’s built-in screen snipping tools to crop an image, you can also make use of Microsoft PowerPoint or Word to get the job done that is if you prefer working with an Office app.
In conclusion: After you have inserted a picture into your notes, you might discover that it shows more than you need. For example, when you take a photo with your cell phone it might show too much background. Rather than for you to trim the picture, which you can’t do in OneNote, you can take a screen clipping of the image to capture just the part that you want to keep.
