How To Call the Google Assistant Speakers & Display in Your Home

How To Call the Google Assistant Speakers & Display in Your Home.

How To Call the Google Assistant Speakers & Display in Your Home

You can unlock some handy features by simply having several Google Assistant speakers or just the smart displays that is spread throughout your home. One of such feature is the option for you to make audio and video calls between rooms making use of Nest devices or using even your smartphone.

You may be very familiar with the ability to maybe “broadcast” a message to a Google Nest speaker or the display. While this can be very useful in certain situations, it can feel limiting also. Sometimes, making use of a two way conversation is better.

Requirements

There are just a few things that you will need to do to make this calling feature work. First of all, of course, you will need some Google Home or some Google Nest speakers and also smart displays. You will also have to install the Google Duo on your iPhone, iPad, or your Android phone.

Link Google Duo to Speakers and Displays

We will start with being rest assured that you have your Google Duo set up for your devices.

1. The first thing you do is, open the Google Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or your Android device and click “Settings.”

2. After you have clicked settings in the google home app, next you choose “Communication.”

3. Now, you navigate to the “Video & Voice Apps.” From the video and voice apps, if you have already set up Google Duo, you will see it listed there with your phone number underneath.

4. Your google duo is already set up, If it is not already linked, simply click on the chain icon to proceed.

5. After tapping on the chain icon, you will be asked to enter your phone number to link it with the Google Duo. When you have finally verified your phone number, click on “Done.”

6. Once this is completed, you can choose the devices that you want to use in making and receiving calls on. Selecting your devices to use for calls is important.

Make Calls to Speakers and Displays

With the Google Duo now linked to your account, it is very easy now to call speakers and the smart displays in your home.

When making use of a Google Assistant speaker or a smart display, just say:

Hey Google, call living room speaker.

Or “Hey Google, video call kitchen display.

These same commands can work from an iPhone, iPad, or an Android phone or even a tablet. Simply launch your Google Assistant and then you say the same commands.

Hey Google, call playroom speaker.

Or “Hey Google, call office display.

If you are calling a smart display from your smart phone, it will automatically default to a video call. You can put off the video when the call starts or, alternatively, you can just make use of the command, “Hey Google, audio call office display,” to specify simply from the start.

When the call starts ringing in the speaker or the smart display, someone on the other end region will need to say, “Hey Google, answer the call.” You now will be having a two way conversation!
